2. When translating from English to mathematical symbols, first determine which quantifier ($, ") is being used in each part of the sentence. Words such as every, all, none are normally associated with the quantifier "for all", ". Words such as there is a, at least one, are normally associated with the quantifier "there exists", $.

Once you have decided on the quantifier(s), determine what the predicate(s) are in the sentence. These will be the parts of the sentence which tell you what the sentence is about.
