Hint for Section 7.3 Question 8

8. A function F only has an inverse function if it is a one-to-one correspondence. First determine if the function  g: Rimplies.jpg (563 bytes)R   where  g(x) = 2x + 5 for all x in R is a one-to-one correspondence (that is, one-to-one and onto).  If you decide that the inverse function of g does exist, then follow the method of Example 7.3.12 on pages 383 - 384 of the textbook to find the inverse function.
